One language spoken world wide is a sensitive issue in times of globalization. There are certain gains from unified language, but is it perfect solution to the problem of communication? Is it worth it to sacrifice cultures genuineness ? In following paragraphs I'm going to present my view on this topic.
Gains in terms of international relations seem to be quite obvious. Lack of obstacles in communication, with no doubt, would boost economy. Cost of information flow would significantly lower. Furthermore I would expect countries to get involved into wars less likely. We have already witnessed it across history - in ancient times Latin seemed to be such a language. French in medieval. Nowadays there are couple of that kind of languages.
On the other hand we can easily observe local languages, often used just by minorities, dying out. A good example would be Indian languages in Northern America. Some say culture is dying along with language.
I think that despite many things, such as some losses in terms of culture, unified language is future of humanity.
